MS801 Tester for diagnostics of battery hybrid and electric vehicles

The MSG Equipment MS801 diagnoses lithium-ion battery modules from electric and hybrid vehicles, including 48 V mild hybrid (MHEV) batteries. It measures usable capacity, checks cell internal resistance and balances individual cells.

Battery compatibility

• 2–14 series-connected Li-ion cells, up to 4.2 V per cell.
• 2–16 series-connected LiFePO₄ cells.
• Maximum battery module voltage: 59 V.

Testing and balancing

• Charge and discharge current: up to 70 A.
• Active 16-channel balancing: 0.05–2 A, with simultaneous cell charging and discharging.
• Maximum balancing voltage: 4.2 V.
• Cell internal-resistance test: peak current up to 120 A for 250 ms.
• Regenerative discharge returns energy to the electrical grid; maximum recovery power: 1.75 kW.

Controls and reporting

Operate through the touchscreen or remotely in a web browser. Configurable automatic test scenarios and internal result storage support repeatable diagnostics. Dedicated PC software provides result analysis and PDF reports. CAN and RS485 support BMS communication; an OBDII connector allows connection of a diagnostic scanner. Ethernet and Wi-Fi connectivity and free software updates are supported.

Specialized cables for modules with non-detachable molded housings are optional. Incorrect test settings can permanently damage the battery module under test.
